Who out there loves a good thrift store? ME!!! I do. There is nothing better than thrift store finds in my opinion. Like they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! And…it is 100% true!
Turning trash into treasure’s.
One of my favorites to up-cycle are silver trays. Slap some paint, or wooden knobs on them and bam you have an instant tray for your bed. Add chalkboard paint and boom instant antique chalkboard you can write on! The possibilities are endless with what you can create with your thrift find.
Gotta be chalkboard.
Anyone who know’s me knows I love chalkboard. I would slap that stuff everywhere if I could. There is just something about chalkboard that has me swooning. Is it the rustic or farmhouse touch it add’s to a room? Who knows! It is simply just amazing and swoon worthy in my eyes.
Easiest up-cycle ever.
You see that little round tray in the above picture? I got two of those bad boys from the thrift store for $5! That’s 2 trays for $5 people! I’m going to need y’all to be just as excited about that as I am! They are aged and antique looking already so I didn’t want to paint the entire tray. I wanted just that center area painted and with what? Of course CHALKBOARD.
Do you blame me though? Look at it. It is absolutely gorgeous. As well as usable. I can write notes on this beauty, put our dinner menu on it or just leave it as is for one cute decor piece in my house. Plus, it literally took me five minutes to paint and cost hardly anything to make (you can get a big can of Rustoleum Chalkboard paint from Wal-Mart for $10)!
How I made it.
Are you ready for the quick tutorial ever? Good! Pay attention y’all:
- Clean your tray and dry well.
- Grab your chalkboard paint and brush.
- Paint the inside of your tray. It’ll take a couple coats.
- Let dry.
- Take a piece of chalk and rub all over the dried paint.
That’s it. What did I say? Quick and easy. Now you have a gorgeous chalkboard to do with what you want. Menu’s, note’s etc. I want to see y’all’s creations now! Drop your images in the comments and tell me what you think! And as always:
